Angel Heart Farm ... About Our Program

When a child enters the Angel Heart Program, he or she is paired up with a horse or pony that is best suited to his or her size and ability.

Should a child be reluctant to ride, he or she will be given the opportunity to groom, feed a carrot or two, or simply pet a horse, thereby allowing for time and space to feel comfortable with the animal.

Before the riding begins, each child is taught  the proper way to groom and tack up for every ride.  To insure the safety of the child, a riding helmet will be provided during time with the animal.  A volunteer will lead the horse to the riding arena, where the magical journey begins.

With each subsequent visit, it should be easy to note the changes in muscle control, attitude and positive self-awareness in a child, as the ability to ride an animal ten times his or her weight and strength signals a major accomplishment to the body and spirit.

Parents are encouraged to video tape and/or photograph the sessions, or to simply sit back and watch the smiles appear.

Following the ride, children are encouraged to brush the horse or pony, then to return the animal to his stall to be fed a carrot or two.

Angel Heart Farm is very blessed to have all the horses and ponies we need for our program, but we always have a few items we must purchase  to keep our program operating smoothly and effectively!

A Letter From the Founder and Director:

Dear All!

The Angel Crew at Angel Heart Farm wishes you all a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year 2010!

It has been a busy year for the program.  Many beautiful new families joined us in 2009!  We have some great little riders who already love the horses and ponies.

Several of the kids got to show at a few local shows, and they came away with loads of smiles and ribbons.  I personally was abble to show my horse Fly a bit, and we had a great season.  I am looking forward to 2010 show season, and so are the kids!

A great group of friends came together and donated some beautiful riding clothes and boots for the kids.  They are going to look positively amazing with their ponies in the Spring!

A few months ago, Nash, Rocky and Cisco became movies stars!  The new movie "Pure Country, The Gift" was filed here in Nashville, and they needed some pretty ponies and horses.  Our 'crew' was AWESOME!  We can hardly wait to see them on the big screen.  They even get film credits!  I will keep you all posted as to when the movie is slated to come out in the theaters.

Our Cowboy Ball was a great success!  Our little Princess Savannah Swandel and our Prince Coy Gill, in honor of his little brother Angel Caleb, looked dazzling!  The Loveless Cafe Barn was the perfect venue, and the food was yummy!  Our dear friend, Lee Roy Parnell, rocked the house and sang a special song for little Savannah and her Daddy John (everyone  was very teary-eyed!)  A new young girl duo named Winfield Locket opened up the show.  They were excellent!  Many thanks to everyone who came out and supported the program.  Thanks, too, to all the sponsors and people that donated great items for the auction!

Our annual V-Cup golf tournament (in honor of Vann Webb), hosted by Billy and Nancy Webb, was held at the Richland Country Club in Nashville.  As always, thanks to all of the handsome golfers who play every year for the kids!

This year, we have lost some beautiful children.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all of their families and friends, especially during this Christmas season.  Please pray for all of our little ones and their moms, dad, siblings and other loved ones.  Pray for all of the doctors and nurses who care for these courageous children.

As always, many thanks for all the kindness, prayers and support that you give to Angel Heart Farm.  We are blessed and grateful to be able to do what we love best...working with the bravest and cutest kids in the world every day!
